Nikki Johnson was born in 1974 as the second of three daughters to a career military father. It was on one of her father's overseas duty tours that Nikki discovered her love for reading and writing. It was also during this time that she wrote her first short story, The Mugger.
In 1994, Nikki received her commission in the United States Army from New Mexico Military Institute. Her duty assignments included Ft. Carson, Colorado; Ft. Lee, Virginia; and Ft. Bliss, Texas. In 2001 she deployed to Camp Doha, Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2003, the Johnson family suffered an emotional blow when older sister, Shoshana Johnson, was captured and held as a POW during the early months of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
In May 2005, Nikki resigned her commission. Since that time, Nikki has earned both a second Bachelor's degree and a master's degree in Education. She currently works as an adjunct English instructor
